When technology makes life more difficult...

We use technology a lot -- it seems to be rooted in both of our natures. We have a number of Alexa devices in the motorhome as well as one Google Home device. Alexa controls a few electric devices so we can ask her to turn on a fan or the HEPA filter and usually she will do it (if we don't have internet service, she just says, "I seem to have lost network connection, please check your router and try again"). We have found that there are some things that Alexa is better at answering and other things that Google is better at doing... sometimes we start to ask one of them, and then realize we should ask the other, so our directions go something like, "Alexa... oh, never mind... OK Google...". When this happens, sometimes they are both active, and then they sometimes start talking to each other, reminding us that we really are not needed here at all!

One of the things we use them for is (1) making lists (we use Google Keep for our shopping list -- it is so helpful to be able to add to a list while we're in the midst of cooking or something else that would make finding a piece of paper and pen rather difficult, and (2) setting reminders. However, each of these is only as useful as the smart device is at understanding us.

This morning, Carl set a reminder on Alexa to remind him to dump the holding tanks at 10:30am (after my laundry should be done)... he got a reminder, but not exactly what he asked for:

... "Bump holding pig"?

Then we need to think back about what we had asked her to remind us about... Keeps our minds young, right?

Carl read a funny this morning:

r/SelfDrivingCars - With the rise of self driving vehicles, it's only a matter of time.

 Oh the joys of technology!
