Cleaning day

We had planned to get our rigs washed on Wednesday or Thursday before we leave on Friday this week, but the forecasted weather is not optimal, so Edgar recommended that we get the rigs washed earlier, and Sunday ended up being the day for rig cleaning (on the outside).

Let's just say that Gracie was pretty dirty (we had had her washed and waxed in Yuma in January 2021, and we washed her in July, but that was it for 2021).

The crew started on Steve and Nancy's rig

Then they moved to Pam's rig (washing, while others were wiping down Steve and Nancy's).

And then to Gracie...

Starting with washing the roof...

Wiping down the windows

Cleaning the front window

Starting the waxing

Still working on Pam's class C -- they were waxing the front cap -- a guy is on the roof holding onto the foot of a lady waxing the front cap...

Here's a better picture of what was going on!

The peanut gallery watching!

Meanwhile the lady is hanging off the front waxing the front!

Others were still working on Gracie

Wax above the front windshield

Carl and I decided to take a walk down the beach...

It was more crowded than we had seen it previously - a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon, many locals enjoying the beach.

We walked down to the rocks below the hotels at the point and Carl had me to sit and pose for a picture.

Walking back... the tide was going out.

A para-sail was going up

When we got back, they were still working on Gracie...

Miss Kitty was supervising in the front window

She thinks they are doing a pretty good job...

The reflection in the back of the mirror looked like a city skyline

After they were all done, we went up to look at the roof and it looks great! As does the whole rig!

And we enjoyed another sunset at the beach!

More shopping on Saturday

On Saturday, we headed out to Sam's Club and Bodega Aurrera (aka Walmart) for some more shopping.

Carl and I didn't have anything we particularly wanted to purchase, so we enjoyed just walking the aisles... and making up meanings for the words we didn't know... This was some kind of chocolate candy in a sequined packaging...

Our reading of the warnings told us that it has excess calories, excess sugar (azucares), and excess grace on Saturdays (Wayne, our resident translator, told us that the first two were pretty much correct, but the last one was regarding the saturated fat content).

The "Special Selection" of Hershey's Kisses also had excess calories, sugar, and grace on Saturdays.

We bought some potatoes to make baked potatoes with brisket on Sunday, and onions to use to make Cream of Potato soup one day next week when it is predicted to be chilly.

Carl made smoked cream cheese for appetizer, and we made split pea soup that we all shared. We had ham and ham bones that we need to use before returning to the US because, even though they were acquired in the US, it is likely we would not be allowed to bring them back across as pork acquired in Mexico cannot be taken into the US, and our pork was not in store-bought hermetically sealed packaging -- so we decided to go ahead and make split pea soup with it and enjoy it here.

After eating, we all walked over to the beach to enjoy the sunset...

It wasn't quite as dramatic as on other nights, but it was still nice.

Friday shopping on Rodeo Drive

We decided to go shopping on Puerto Penasco's version of Rodeo Drive on Friday...

Some of us chose to walk the 1.5 miles from the campground -- we went through neighborhoods on dirt roads...

... until we got to Rodeo Drive... - looking one way down the street...

... and the other way up the street.

There were lots of small shops just packed to the gills with interesting stuff!

"Juan's Deer" teeshirt

Strange small mannequin with a Spiderman hood on!

Would it have been more appealing if it actually said "Thank you for visiting..." instead of "Tank you for visiting..."?

Night of the dead dolls -- eerie

All sorts of paraphernalia to hang on the wall!

The only place that I saw a "Rodeo Drive" sign...

Zoomed in, Rodeo Drive Pharmacy sign

In the candy store, "Drums" (aka large marshmallows).

On the walk back, we saw this mural on the side of a building.

For supper, Nancy had prepared delicious lasagna that Steve cooked in their smoker! Veggies and sliced bread completed a delicious meal!

Thursday around the campground

On Thursday, Carl and I made a breakfast casserole for the group (no pictures). We had a relatively lazy day... Carl cooked up all the bacon that we had in the freezer (we have been told that raw bacon cannot be carried back to the US, but cooked bacon can). We took a short bike ride but the wind was blowing so hard that we didn't go far. Nancy got a pedicure, and we finished up the fish and shrimp that we had purchased a few days ago.

Nancy's, Pam's and Patti's newly pedicured feet!

Chips and guacamole, and shrimp cocktail before supper

Amanda making blackened fish

Sunset

Nancy took a picture of us enjoying the sunset...

We were watching some guys trying to get a crane moved off the beach --

Zoomed in on the picture to show the equipment they trying to move off of the beach - we got cold watching so decided we'd come back in the morning to see if it was gone!
