On Wednesday, we were prepared to leave the Phoenix Metro RV Park and head out to boondock in the desert. We had gotten groceries, filled our fresh water and emptied our waste water.
We had planned a stop on the way, though. On Tuesday, we attempted to put the shade cloth on our awning (it is supposed to slide into a slot on the awning roll), but... the slot was not open enough to get the cloth to slide in. Yes, this is the same awning that we've spent so many months dealing with! It appears to us that there is either a manufacturing defect or the roller was damaged in shipment. So, we thought we'd stop at National Indoor RV Center (NIRVC) on the way to see if someone could at least look at it and give us input on what could be done, and if it is possibly still under warranty from being purchased and installed last year.
We were closing everything up on Gracie, and as we brought the last slide in, it made an awful banging sound just as the slide was getting all the way in. The paddles that normally come out and wedge against the walls to secure the slide into place did not activate (probably the slide was not coming in all the way). We tried a couple of times, but the awful banging happened each time. So... now there were two reasons to stop at NIRVC...
We stopped just before noon at NIRVC and talked with our previous service advisor, Skip, asking if someone could possibly look at the two issues and give us input. Skip indicated that all his technicians were busy, but that he would try to get us worked into the schedule either Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning.
So... here we are... |
It doesn't look like boondocking in the desert to me! |
We got our chairs out and sat out in the sun in the parking area across from Gracie for a little while in the evening. |
They were not able to get to us on Wednesday afternoon, and, I'm writing this Thursday morning, and, so far, no one has come to get Gracie this morning. We don't really know what they might find with regard to the slide issue, but we're thinking that there may need to be a replacement part ordered, which could require a long wait. So... we'd like to get it analyzed at least... And, in the meantime, we wait...
