On Thursday morning, they picked up Gracie to take her over for service about 8:45am.
It was weird to see her being driven with the slide out -- we had tried again to bring the slide in on Thursday morning without success.

The driver was very careful as he drove - I hope it wasn't torqued in the driving.

The new part
While Gracie was being worked on, we went out to do laundry. We had Miss Kitty with us because we knew that they would be exercising the slides (we wanted all the slides to be lubricated) and we didn't want to risk that she would be in a place where she could be hurt.
When we got back from doing laundry, there did not seem to be much change. It seemed that getting the old part out was difficult...
But... by lunchtime, he had gotten the old part out!
Another picture of the old part. Carl plans to keep it to see if he can determine what broke...
Ray, the technician, was supporting the slide with a hydraulic jack. The new motor would bring the slide in with the additional support, but seemed it could not bring it in un-supported.
By the end of the day, they had the slide almost working. The motor will bring it in, but not enough so the paddles that lock it in place are engaged. If they change the tuning on the slide so the paddles engage, the slide won't go all the way out. They will be calling the manufacturer, Newmar, on Friday morning, to get advice and counsel.

Ray went ahead and lubricated all of the slides before he wrapped up on Thursday - this is the product he used for doing the lubrication.
We parked just outside the shop for the night. Ray or Skip will call Newmar on Friday morning and hopefully come up with a solution. Miss Kitty and her clowder (Carl and Patti) were very happy to be back in our rig!
