Sower Week 3 - Thursday - the last Work day!

Thursday was our last workday for the February Sower project at Lake Placid Camp and Conference Center.

We started with devotions -- and it turned out that it was the day for me to do devotions for the group. I talked about the continuing need for Bible translation (gave 2022 global statistics) and told a couple of stories that I had impacted me during the time I was volunteering at the ILC (https://trekincartwrights.blogspot.com/2019/06/dvu-story.html).

Camp and Conference Center Director Anthony talked with us briefly - shared a video from one of the youth groups who were on the campus last weekend, and thanked us for our volunteering.

Gwen and Carolyn were finishing up their shuffleboard project with putting clearcoat on ....

-- and they tried out a match using paint rollers and a whiffle ball!

Barb wanted a picture of Becky and me using the table and benches that we had worked on...

...Carolyn and Barb had gone into town to one of the thrift stores and got us cute little teacups!

So, we toasted the completion of our project!

Even though Carolyn and Gwen had tried out using one shuffleboard court, the other one still needed one more coat of clear coat, so we helped sweep while they applied the coating...

...when they finished, they took a well deserved rest at the end of the courts!

Enjoying the fruits of their labor.

Later in the day, Carl and I walked down to Omega building to see the completed work there -- the gathering room looks really good with fixed under-flooring and new carpet tiles over about 1/4 - 1/3 of the floor.

The issue that caused the problem was leaking from the shower area, so the area around the drains was re-done and tile replaced in those stalls too.

We celebrated the end of our work month with an impromptu get-together for snacks after the end of the guys' workday. We've enjoyed making friends with these Sower couples and anticipate that we may cross paths at some point down the road!
