Thursday - Sowers Day 8 - A bit of a different work day

On Thursday, the "Prime Timers" (aka seniors) from the Florida South District were coming to the campus for a meeting and update. Earlier in the week, Anthony asked if there were folks who were willing to help with parking, so we volunteered. We got an overview of what would be expected.

Before I get to Thursday though....

Wednesday afternoon there was a blood drive at the local Winn Dixie, so I went over to donate -- in a Blue Bird bus!

Later Wednesday evening, some of our folks played pickleball under the lights on the newly painted multi-purpose court.

I only took one picture of the parking -- Becky is up the hill directing a vehicle into a parking spot. Carl was at the entrance directing people either to parking (where Becky was) or to me if they had handicapped who needed to be dropped-off. I was directing them on the route to get to the drop-off location and then back to parking. Due to the infrastructure changes being done on the campus, a lot of the parking they would normally use is unavailable, and some of the roads have changed direction since they were last here... so we had to be careful - sometimes the drivers were so convinced they knew what they were doing without our help we had to nearly chase them down!

After our parking duties were completed, we were invited into the worship center to hear the entertainment that was provided to the attendees...

We got to hear the Burchfield Brothers (https://burchfieldbrothers.com/)

Brother Jon played the guitar and emceed the concert, while brother Ben played the electronic xylophone from which he could generate most any instrument you might imagine. He also played various flutes and whistles, including his own pursed lips in an amazing whistle:

In case those videos don't show up within this post, I also uploaded them to YouTube:

Participants enjoying their day.

Carl had also volunteered to serve at lunchtime, so he stayed on through the middle of the day - that ended up being our work commitment for the day.

Later in the afternoon, we went for a walk...

...and found group leader, Bill, doing some treasure hunting.

We also participated in game night, enjoying a session of Mexican Train (dominoes) with Wesley, Carolyn, and Barb (no pictures).
