Weekend

On Friday, we drove into Lake Placid to get a couple of errands accomplished...

We saw a store that had been a RadioShack at some point in its life!

We were also very near Lake Placid Tower (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Placid_Tower) -- evidently you used to be able to go up in it, but it has been closed for about 20 years. It can be seen from a long distance away, so it must have provided great views when it was open!

On Friday afternoon, Miss Kitty had taken over my keyboard -- so if you got any strange emails from me, or if there were any odd posts to the blog -- we will blame them on Miss Kitty!

On Friday, a youth retreat came onto the grounds -- it appears that there were 200+ kids around the conference center.

We took a walk on Saturday afternoon...

The big slip'n'slide had water in it, but no kids...

... no kids on the basketball court or playground equipment...

... or on the soccer field...

... or volleyball court.

We saw a few in hammocks...

... and we got into the big Adirondack chair again. We'd only been sitting there a short time when...

... LOTS of kids showed up...

... regardless of the fact that it was only barely 70F...

... they were enjoying the cold water in the lake!

We talked with one of the Roamer couples while we were down at the lake (Bruce and Helen) and they told us about a walking path in the woods and how to access it from down near the beach...

... so we headed out to the path through the woods.

It was really pretty with Spanish moss hanging from the trees.

We got a selfie along the walking path.

On Sunday evening, we had a planned SOWER potluck...

... we all gathered at tables that we collected together in front of the Dewey Lodge.

Carolyn and Wes had smoked brisket and cut it as they served at the dinner. (Carl had smoked two chickens, but I didn't get any pictures of those...).

Lined up to fill our plates.

All the SOWER and SOA couples!

This is a picture from Monday -- one of the groups of youth stayed over until Monday since it was Presidents day -- the buses were all lined up for them to board and head out!

We've finished two weeks of our three week project. We're looking forward to wrapping up many of the tasks we've been working on during the last week!
