Tuesday, we were still completing tasks that needed to get done before Wednesday. The whole tennis court needed to be painted, so it first needed to be cleared of sand and leaves.
Becky donned the electric blower (kinda looks like a personal jet pack, doesn't it?)...
... and started blowing off the surface, while Barry completed attaching the shade cloth to the fence.
Carolyn and Gwen were completing the green paint on the shuffleboard (in the areas that they could do - some of the white primer was not yet dry enough to be covered).
Group leader Bill re-attached the shade awnings over the bleachers so they did not blow so much.
Patti and Becky painting...
... while Carolyn and Gwen, having completed what they could do on the shuffleboard court, joined us on the tennis court and engaged in Roller Wars!
By the "quitting time" for the ladies (11:30am), we had painted half the court.
Carl was filling in the blocks at the steps to prepare them for painting.
Turns out that the guys were going to be finishing the other half of the tennis court...
There were four of them working at one time.
The other end, where we had painted in the morning, was dry enough for Barry to tape off the lines for pickle ball.
Meanwhile, some of the ladies found cooler temperatures inside Dewey Hall and worked on a Valentines project...
Becky and Carolyn working on cards...
... as were Gwen and Linda.
We wrote a number of cards - found thoughtful or humorous sentiments to write in them, and put them in a small postbox that Gwen had gotten at a thrift store on Monday...
... and after the guys wrapped up work at 3:30pm, we had tapas and shared cards with everyone.
Some of the sentiments in the cards:
- You are loved by the Father, and all of us!
- Thank you for coming into my life and making it special.
- Roses are red, violets are blue, sunflowers are yellow... I bet you were expecting something romantic, but these are just gardening facts!
