A visit to Fountain Hills

We had mentioned to friends in Venture Out, Alex and Sue, that we wanted to go to see the fountain at Fountain Hills, and they said that they would enjoy that too, so we arranged to go on Friday for brunch.

Alex drove and we parked near the Veteran's Memorial by the lake...

The fountain would go off on the hour for about 15 minutes at a time. We had arrived a little before 9am.

Information about the fountain

We walked around the lake on the path in the park, and when we were about half way around, the fountain started going!

Wow!

Group selfie!

And another group selfie!

The condos on this side (north) of the lake have a great view of the park, lake, and fountain.

We spied a love bird up in a tree alongside the park.

There were statues in the park too...

... This one was entitled "Fred & Ginger"

Walking along the edge of Fountain Park

We headed "cross-country" to walk on the path nearer the lake -- we went through the outdoor amphitheater area that had a spot within it where an individual speaking could be easily heard by people in the seating area - a natural amplification system!

We headed up to a place where there were some businesses and found one where we could get brunch and enjoy eating while sitting outside...

... so we could see the fountain go off at 10am too!

Our outdoor seating area

When we finished eating, it was nearly 11am, so we sat near the lake to watch the fountain once again...

When it started, it looked almost like a ball of water being propelled up into the sky!

We found a "musical instrument experimentation zone" and had to try some of the instruments out...

Lots of musical instruments

Trying one of the instruments

Alex was trying one too

And Carl tried another one!

Alex and Sue collaborating

As we were walking back to Alex and Sue's pickup truck, we passed a garden with desert landscape plants...

We found the name of one of the plants that we had been calling "Coral" - actually is called "Firesticks"...

... I've only seen small bushes of this in Venture Out, but it can get pretty large.

One the drive back to Venture Out, the clouds were so pretty...

We said that if we saw a painting with a sky that looked like this, we'd think, "No, a real sky would never look like that!" -- but it did!

What a nice day!
