Visiting with friends

On Wednesday, we returned to Paul Wolff Campground and met up with friends Jim and Melanie. We enjoyed a meal together and sitting around the campfire in the evening and talking.

On Thursday morning, we took a walk ...

...when we were passing the tent camping area, we saw a duck at one of the campsites... at first, it was so still, we thought it was a statue, but then, it moved...

... so we went over to visit. I think the owner said that it is a Muscovite duck (I just tried looking that up and she must have said "Muscovy" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscovy_duck).

She said that it appeared that the duck had been abandoned by previous owners in their neighborhood so her family adopted it. She said that it lives comfortably with their cats and dogs and travels well. I think she said that she plans to take it on a hiking trip on the Appalachian trail later this summer, that it will perch on her shoulder or backpack!

After a couple of miles of walking, we got back to our campsites, fixed lunch, and prepared to head out. -- the weather was threatening rain and we didn't want to be packing up and hooking up in the rain.

A selfie of the four of us just before we were heading out.

We had such a nice visit with Jim and Melanie!
