On Wednesday about noon time we moved Gracie from the VFW in Wheaton to Paul Wolff Campground in Elgin, IL. We really appreciated that the VFW allowed us to stay on their property for over 2 weeks while we were working on clearing out the apartment.

On the way -- at an intersection -- what is that saying about No Turn on Red?
"No Turn on Red when pedestrians are present" -- isn't that always the case? does that mean that at intersections where that sign is *not* posted that you can go ahead and run down the pedestrians while turning on red? Inquiring minds want to know...

At Paul Wolff enjoying sitting under the big awning! The first time we've really enjoyed using it since we got it re-installed.

... but then... it wouldn't go in when we were ready to leave the campground for a few minutes (we always try to put the awning away if we're going to be away in case a rogue wind comes up)... I am not certain that standing on a step on top of a picnic table is the wisest thing to do - Carl was trying to determine if it was jammed in some way, but we could not find that it was. We both did some reading online and he determined that there was something wrong with the controller...
So... he unplugged the controller, got two paper clips to create leads to power it from a separate battery source, figured out which two holes made the contact to cause the awning to retract, and brought it in. Just to check, he re-plugged in the controller, extended the awning a short distance, and tried again to retract it with the controller with no success -- but the paper clips and battery work in a pinch. I am so glad Carl knew how to do this - I would have had no clue!

We still have a few things from Verna's apartment to have to re-home or deal with. One of the items was several pairs of prescription glasses as well as some non-prescription reading glasses. I knew that the Lion's Club used to accept them, so did some internet searches to see if they still do... and they do... and the information indicated that there are often collection boxes at Walmart and Sam's Club stores. We were heading to Walmart on Thursday so checked there and, sure enough, there was a Lion's Club box at the front of the Vision store (in the front of the Walmart store). Hurrah! Another thing off our list!
